DocX Guide

Almost all the people who have asked me to be a beta for them have no idea how to create connections in Fanfiction or send DocX documents. So, I've created this guide to help those (requesting my help or not) who do not know their way around the DocX and/or Beta tab.

Akatsuki Child's DocX Guide

Before you can start sending and receiving documents to/from your beta, you and your beta must set up a connection. To do this, sign in on Fanfiction and go to the tab labeled DocX. Under this, you'll find the tab called Connections. In the drop box, you select how you want to enter the other's name: pen name, user ID, profile URL, or email. Then click Create Connection. Now, you must wait until the other person accepts this request.

After the connection is created, you are almost ready to start sending and receiving! However, you can't just upload a regular story document. When you upload your file (just like a regular story file), you must select DocX instead of Story. Then hit Submit Document. Now it can be sent to your beta or back to the user, but you cannot upload it as a story (you'd have to save it on your computer and re-upload it as a story).

Now you are ready to send! Go back to the DocX tab and click Outbox. Select your beta's name, the DocX document, add a short description/message, and send! You can keep track of when you sent it and when your beta received the message.

After your beta has reviewed the chapter/story, they will send it back to you the same way you sent it. When it has been sent to you, you'll receive a notification in your e-mail. To open this document, you can either download it straight from your e-mail inbox, or you can go to the DocX tab and click on Inbox. It'll show all of your documents you have received, and whether or not you've opened them yet. This is also how you can open and view your documents.

Once you've made your desired changes to your chapter/story, upload it again as a story, and then you can publish it!

I hope this guide helps all those who are in need of assistance in the DocX area!

Updates

I've started my sequel to Ten Days! It's called Contentions and I have the prologue and the first chapter up already. I'm really excited for this story because of how well people liked Ten Days. I'm excited to get this story going and to see what people think of it. I like this story because I've created a strong enough plot where it's not just focused on Thalia and Apollo, though they are the main focus. There is actually another serious matter going on, which makes it more realistic. Plus, the whole reason I picked the title Contentions was because there are going to be a lot of conflicts, not all of them related to Thalia and Apollo. I just can't wait to get this story going.

On the down side, I haven't progressed very much with the sequel to Artificial Engagement, and I'm not sure it will be out for quite some time now. The way I see it, unless I'm struck by a brilliant idea, I'm not going to get anywhere with that story for some time. It might not even come out until the middle of summer. For some reason, I'm having a really hard time with that story when I thought it would be easy. Anyways, if you follow my stories on Fanfiction, watch out for Contentions! :]
